Homemade Pizza Rolls (Detailed Recipe)
These pizza rolls have a soft, fluffy dough and a cheesy pizza filling. They’re great as a snack, appetizer, or lunchbox item.
Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (240 mL) warm water (about 40–43°C / 105–110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Filling
- ¾ cup pizza sauce
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- ½ cup sliced pepperoni, cooked chicken, or vegetables (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
For Topping
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Extra Parmesan cheese (optional)
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast.
- Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add olive oil and salt.
- Gradually add flour while mixing.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- Mix the pizza sauce with oregano, basil, and garlic powder.
- Prepare any additional toppings.
- Shred the mozzarella if using a block of cheese.
Step 3: Roll Out the Dough
- Punch down the risen dough.
- Roll it into a rectangle about 12 × 16 inches (30 × 40 cm).
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly, leaving a 1 cm border around the edges.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the sauce.
- Add pepperoni or other toppings evenly.
Step 4: Form the Rolls
- Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
- Pinch the seam closed.
- Cut into 12 equal slices using a sharp knife or dental floss.
Step 5: Second Rise
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking tray.
- Leave a little space between them.
- Cover loosely and let rise for 20–30 minutes.
Step 6: Bake
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
Step 7: Finish
- Mix melted butter, garlic powder, and oregano.
- Brush over the hot rolls immediately after baking.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan if desired.

Ingredients
- 1 tube pizza dough
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese

Method
- Roll out the dough.
- Add sauce, cheese, and toppings.
