Here is a simple recipe for easy-peel steamed eggs:
Easy-Peel Steamed Eggs
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- Water (for steaming)
- Ice and cold water (for ice bath)
Instructions
- Add about 1–2 inches of water to a pot and bring it to a gentle boil.
- Place eggs in a steamer basket above the water.
- Cover the pot and steam:
- 7 minutes for soft yolks
- 10 minutes for slightly creamy yolks
- 12–14 minutes for firm hard-boiled eggs
- Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath for 5–10 minutes.
- Gently crack and peel the shells.
Serving Ideas
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Slice over salads or toast.
- Add a little paprika, herbs, or chili flakes for extra flavor.
Tip: Older eggs (about 1–2 weeks old) often peel more easily than very fresh eggs.
You can also make a similar version in an air fryer if you want a no-water method.
