🍤 Crispy Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp
Crunchy shrimp coated in a creamy, sweet-spicy “bang bang” sauce—lighter since it’s air fried, but still addictive.
🧾 Ingredients
For the shrimp:
- 300–400g shrimp (peeled, deveined, tail-on optional)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Cooking spray or oil mist
Bang Bang sauce:
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2–3 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1–2 tsp sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp honey (optional, for balance)
- 1 tsp lime juice or vinegar
🔥 Instructions
1. Prep the shrimp
- Pat shrimp dry (important for crispiness)
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder
2. Bread the shrimp
Set up 3 bowls:
- Bowl 1: flour
- Bowl 2: beaten eggs
- Bowl 3: panko breadcrumbs
Coat shrimp in order:
👉 flour → egg → panko
Press gently so breadcrumbs stick well
3. Air fry
- Preheat air fryer to 200°C (390°F)
- Spray basket lightly with oil
- Place shrimp in a single layer
- Spray tops lightly with oil
Cook for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway
Until golden and crispy
4. Make bang bang sauce
Mix:
- mayo
- sweet chili sauce
- sriracha
- honey (optional)
- lime juice
Stir until smooth and creamy
5. Toss & serve
- Either drizzle sauce over shrimp
or toss shrimp lightly in sauce - Serve immediately for best crunch
🍽️ Serving ideas
- Over rice or noodles
- In tacos or lettuce wraps
- As an appetizer with extra sauce on the side
đź’ˇ Tips for extra crunch
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer
- Use panko (not regular breadcrumbs)
- Spray oil lightly for that fried texture
- Serve immediately—sauce softens crispiness over time
