Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions ππ«π§
A classic, hearty skillet meal that works great on its own, over pasta, or stuffed into hoagie rolls.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or hot)
- 2 bell peppers (mixed colors), sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Β½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt & black pepper
- ΒΌ cup chicken broth or water
- Fresh parsley or basil for garnish
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sausages and brown on all sides, about 6β8 minutes.
- Remove sausages and set aside.
- Add remaining oil, peppers, and onions to the skillet.
- Cook until softened and slightly caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
- Slice sausages into chunks (or keep whole) and return to skillet.
- Add broth, cover, and simmer for 8β10 minutes until sausages are fully cooked.
- Garnish with parsley or basil.
