There was once a crow who lived on the edge of a quiet forest. Every morning, he watched the other birds fly freely across the sky, singing their beautiful songs and gathering together in colorful flocks.
The crow often compared himself to them.
“I wish I had a voice like the nightingale,” he thought. “I wish I had feathers as bright as the peacock. Maybe then everyone would love me.”
So the crow began searching for approval.
He tried to sing like the nightingale, but the other birds laughed. He tried to walk proudly like the peacock, but they ignored him. He changed himself again and again, hoping that one day others would finally notice his efforts.
But the more he chased their attention, the more unhappy he became.
One day, an old crow saw him sitting alone on a tree branch with a heavy heart.
“Why do you look so sad?” asked the old crow.
The young crow replied, “I do everything I can to make others like me, but no one chooses me. I wish I were someone else.”
The old crow smiled and said, “Have you forgotten who you are?”
The young crow looked confused.
The old crow continued, “Look at what you can do. You can fly higher than many birds. You can survive in places where others cannot. You are intelligent, adaptable, and strong. Why are you begging others to see your worth when you already carry it within you?”
The young crow became quiet.
For the first time, he stopped looking at what he lacked and started appreciating what he had.
From that day on, he stopped trying to become someone else. He flew with confidence, found his own path, and helped others whenever he could.
Something surprising happened.
The birds who once ignored him began to respect him—not because he changed himself to please them, but because he finally valued himself.
The crow learned a lesson that stayed with him forever:
“Never chase someone who does not appreciate you. Love and respect cannot be forced. The moment you stop begging for acceptance and start respecting yourself, you discover your true strength.”
Moral of the Story
Never beg for love, attention, or approval. The right people will value you for who you are. Your worth does not depend on someone else’s recognition. Like the crow, embrace your uniqueness and let your confidence speak for you.
